William (Bill) Gill graduated from Virginia Tech with a BS in Civil Engineering. He is a licensed professional engineer who has worked for Smithfield Foods for more than 20 years, holding various project engineering and environmental positions.
Currently assistant vice president of environmental affairs, he is responsible for EMS/ISO, sustainability metrics collection and compilation, CSR report development, compliance auditing program, environmental training and technical support for company operations. Bill is a current member and former chair of the American Meat Institute (AMI) environmental committee, a member of the AMI sustainability committee, and vice-chair for the Global Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI). He also participants in the Alliance for Innovation & Operational Excellence (AIOE) Sustainability Solutions Group.
