John R. “Jack” Detweiler
A lifelong resident of Pennsylvania, Jack grew up as a boy on a farm in Montgomery County, PA. He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1967 with a Biology Degree and a Commission in the U.S. Army where he served 2 years active duty at Ft. Wainwright, Alaska.
Jack has been married to Marti Detweiler since college. They have 2 married children, Chris Detweiler, a realtor in Camp Hill, PA and Leigh Ann Work, a science teacher in Santa Cruz, CA.
A realtor, developer, and title agent for over 50 years, Jack ran the family real estate business from 1979 to 2006. He is still involved in residential development and commercial property management.
Jack is a past President of the Greater Harrisburg Association of realtors, a past Board Member of the Central Pennsylvania Conservancy, Citizens for Pennsylvania’s Future, and the Rotary Club of Harrisburg, where he also chairs the Ecology Committee.
Jack has a strong attachment to the Chesapeake Bay where Jack and Marti enjoy racing their sailboat from their second home in Annapolis, MD and where Jack also spends time fly fishing with his son Chris on the Bay.
