Meet The Staff: Abbi Huntzinger
Meet our Maryland Restoration Program Manager
based out of the Maryland Office
Abbi grew up in the Susquehanna Valley between the banks of the river and ridges of the Appalachian Mountains in south central Pennsylvania. She followed her mom around in the garden and learned how to run old-school blueprints in her dad’s engineering office. This upbringing led her to Penn State where she majored in landscape architecture. After graduation, she found herself on the edge of the Chesapeake Bay in Annapolis helping landowners create land use plans and gardens throughout the Maryland/Virginia/DC area. She developed a sensitivity in her work for protecting natural resources, most specifically water and trees.
After a rewarding 10 years in the private consulting sector, Abbi followed her interest in natural resource protection and management. She joined the Chesapeake Bay non-profit community and pursued a masters degree in Natural Resource Management with a focus on Leadership in Sustainability from Virginia Tech. Her studies focused on water management in the Chesapeake Bay watershed and in India looking at the intersection of innovation, natural systems, and human behavior.
When she is not sharpening her skills at winter plant identification or learning about the latest stormwater management best practices, you can find her planning her next trip – anywhere new or anywhere near a beach! When not traveling, you can find her volunteering in the community, hitting the local park trails with her dog Milli, taking a yoga class, or trying out a new restaurant.
