Meet The Staff: Erin O’Grady
Meet our RiverSmart Homes Program Coordinator
based out of the Maryland & DC Office
Erin grew up in Southeastern Virginia boating on the Lynnhaven and Nansemond Rivers. Her environmental understanding progressed while spending time cleaning marshes on the local waterways and the Eastern Shore. Her love for the environment was established at a young age and she has since worked with a healthier future in mind.
Erin received her B.A. in Environmental and Sustainability Studies at George Mason University. While at George Mason she participated in numerous hands on projects in Northern Virginia, assisting in sustainable efforts including a campus food forest and environmental grants. After college Erin lived abroad in Argentina, working with an environmental non-profit organization. When she wasn’t creating environmental education programs she adventured throughout the country tasting wine, speaking Spanish, and trying her hand at the Tango.
Erin’s love for travel led her to many other countries such as Ecuador, Turkey, Sweden, and Morocco. Each trip has increased her joy of other hobbies such as photography, kayaking, hiking, and billiards. If you want an easy way to strike up a conversation mention a good book, chances are she’s read it or it’s on her list.
Erin works as the RiverSmart Homes Rain Barrel Program Coordinator, in partnership with the District Department of Energy and the Environment (DOEE). She helps DC community members receive rain barrel installations and rebates in order to reduce stormwater runoff.
Erin currently lives in Northern Virginia, splitting her time between the DC and Maryland offices. She enjoys spending time with her friends and exploring hidden treasures in the District.
