Meet The Staff: Lucy Heller
Meet our Chesapeake Conservation Corps Intern
based out of the Maryland & DC Office
Lucy’s love for the Chesapeake Bay and Maryland come from growing up with Charm City Pride and spending summers since she was a child on the Eastern Shore. Lucy enjoys outdoor activities such as; sailing, crabbing, and paddle boarding as well as going on hikes with her dog, Natalie Boh. It was through her appreciation for the bay that Lucy wanted to pursue the Chesapeake Conservation Corps, where she got matched with the Alliance.
Before becoming a Chesapeake Conservation Corps member, Lucy went to school in Ohio at the College of Wooster and got her B.A in English. Lucy used her time at college to the fullest by participating in as many student run activities as she could. This included being part of the Women’s Ultimate Frisbee Team, DJing for the student run radio station, volunteering at the local wilderness center, and helping coordinate events on the campus such as concerts and movie nights. After graduation Lucy moved to Boston for a year where she worked for Autodesk, a multinational software corporation as their communications and events specialist.
Lucy is excited to be back in her hometown and working towards her goal of working for environmental non-profits. In the Annapolis office, Lucy is helping with a couple projects including, Project Clean Stream and Tree Plantings. Also, as part of the Chesapeake Conservation Corps program, Lucy will be working on a capstone project. Lucy hopes to gain experience in the nonprofit world and learn as much as she can about the bay and how to help preserve it.
