Adam grew up on the outskirts of historic Fredericksburg, VA where he and his friends would explore the woods behind his house and follow the creek all the way to the Rappahannock River – pretty close to the spot where George Washington was fabled to have thrown a silver dollar across to the other side.

During his college years at the University of Mary Washington, Adam became passionate about a wide array of social and environmental causes and decided to pursue a career working with nonprofits. Since graduating with a B.A. in Sociology, he has had the opportunity to work for several nonprofits in a variety of capacities – everything from organizing community leaders to pass Virginia’s restaurant smoking ban to a communications specialist for the National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Program. He also earned a Masters of Theology Studies from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, and started youth-run music and arts nonprofit in his hometown called Fredericksburg All Ages.

Adam joined the Alliance in May 2017 to help assist the Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC), a position he held until 2022. He now serves as the Alliance’s Grants Manager and works with the Finance Team to help maintain the organization’s 120+ active grants and provides technical and budgetary support to program staff in grant proposals and reporting. Adam and his spouse Erin live just a short walk from the trails along the James River Park System in Richmond, VA. When they’re not working, they love to travel and explore, see live music (Adam has proudly seen Bruce Springsteen perform 21 times), garden and cook, and frequent the amazing restaurants in RVA.
