Upham Brook – Bellevue/Lakeside RiverWise Community

/////Upham Brook – Bellevue/Lakeside RiverWise Community

Upham Brook is a tributary of the Chickahominy River that flows through the urban areas of Henrico County and City of Richmond.   Like many urban streams, it is polluted by bacteria and other runoff contaminants.   Through their Upham Brook Holistic Watershed Restoration Project, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) partnered with the Alliance and other community groups and county and city officials to do on-the-ground pollution reduction and restoration projects, provide outreach and watershed education to homeowners, and create a model for implementing local Chesapeake Bay cleanup plans. See this page for more details:

As part of this partnership, the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay is conducting our RiverWise assessments in the Upham Brook Watershed. For free, an assessment team will come out to your property and look for ways you can reduce stormwater runoff leaving your property, increase native habitat and have a positive impact on water quality. You will receive a report with personalized recommendations.

We are currently seeking funding to incentivize the implementation of recommended practices in the Upham Brook watershed. In order to be considered for these funds, you must sign up for a RiverWise Assessment.
