Amanda is the Alliance’s Maryland Projects Associate. She grew up on Solomons Island, and spent much of her childhood fishing, crabbing, and boating on the Patuxent River.

She graduated from Washington College in May of 2019, and received her B.A. in Environmental Studies and minors in Sociology and Chesapeake Regional Studies. During her undergrad Amanda participated in the Chesapeake Semester Program, a semester long interdisciplinary study of the Chesapeake Bay. She spent the semester traveling throughout the Chesapeake Bay watershed learning both inside and outside the classroom, and immersed herself in a 2 week multicultural study in both Belize and Guatemala. It was during the intense 5 month program where she discovered the intricate connection between humans, society, and the environment.

Prior to joining the Alliance, Amanda participated in the Chesapeake Conservation Corps for a year, and interned at the Calvert Marine Museum as the Estuarine Biologist intern, and for Bergeson and Campbell, P.C., an environmental law firm located in DC. Amanda works to support the Alliance’s stream restoration and living shoreline projects through grant writing, partner outreach, and project management. In her free time she can be found traveling, hiking, practicing yoga, searching for sea glass, exploring new craft breweries, and cooking food from her garden.
