The Chesapeake Bay has seen significant changes in the past 50 years! In the 1970s, the rivers of the Chesapeake were ailing. In 1971, a group of concerned citizens came together to restore and protect the bay for the wildlife that depends on it, and the humans that recreate and connect with it. That partnership marked the beginning of the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay.

As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we’re bringing you 50 stories featuring individuals, projects, ideas, places, and partnerships representing five decades of restored lands and waters of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

To kick things off, we invite you to view our anniversary film for an inspirational look into our past successes and our vision for the future. We hope you’ll join us for a year of reflection, celebration, and compelling stories highlighting our progress and launching into the next 50 years of bay restoration.
