Originally from Northern Virginia, Jillian Everly, earned her Bachelor’s of Science degree in Wildlife Conservation from Virginia Tech in 2019 and her Master’s of Science in Anthropology from Idaho State University in 2023. Through a variety of field work and research positions with the Conservation Corps, Great Basin Institute, the Sloth Institute, La Fuerzo del Buzo, the North Pacific Anadromous Fish Commission, and Sea Grant to name a few, she was able to develop skillsets in communicating research on the benefits of riparian habitat to redband trout success in Idaho through traditional and non-traditional mediums of academic writing, poetry, and photography; understanding and applying economic and political contexts to the well-being of natural resource dependent community members in small towns of Alaska and Chile; and coordinating coalition groups and stakeholders in the creation of environmental policy in Washington, D.C. Through her most recent experience as a seasonal farmer at Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Clagett Farm in Maryland, she became passionate about the environmental and community well-being benefits of regenerative farming.
In her free time, she enjoys strengthening her tree identification skills on trail adventures, reading in hammocks, and print making with friends. She is grateful to be settled in the DMV area with her family and friends once again!
