Meet The Staff: Mauricio Rosales
Meet our Agricultural Program Manager
based out of the Pennsylvania Office
Mauricio joined the Alliance on March 2020 as the PA Agricultural Program Manager. Mauricio’s education and experience are in dairy; however, he has been involved in conservation programs and have supported conservation professionals in the past. Although Mauricio’s background is very different than the majority of his colleagues, he shares the same passion for conservation, agriculture and education.
Born and raised in Ecuador, Mauricio graduated in 2012 with a degree in Farming Science in a local university in his hometown Quito. Soon after, he immigrated to the U.S. and started working on a 600-cow dairy farm in WI as one of the herdsman and stayed there for approximately 2 years. After having such a great experience with dairy cows, he decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Animal Science with focus on dairy management at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul, MN. In 2016, he graduated and moved to Lancaster PA to work as an Extension Dairy Educator for Penn State Extension. Mauricio offered educational programs that focused on animal health, dairy business management, and training for Latino dairy employees. Lately, Mauricio helped dairy producers determining break-evens and cost of production, which later were used to take informed financial decisions at the farms.
Besides working with farm animals and producers, Mauricio enjoys gardening and growing his own food. He likes to use all the produce of his garden to make his famous chili and other diverse dishes.
