The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay’s 17th Annual Chesapeake Watershed Forum (to be held in person at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, WV) is a watershed-wide event reaching over 400 restoration and protection practitioners to inspire and empower local action towards clean water. We share successful tools and techniques, offer lessons and learnings from on-the-ground work, build capacities of local organizations, foster partnerships, educate on new initiatives and emerging practices, network among each other, and celebrate our successes.
The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and the National Conservation Training Center (NCTC) are committed to the safety of the staff, speakers, and all conference attendees. All staff, presenters, and attendees are expected to abide by both the Alliance’s and NCTC’s COVID-related policies. The following policies and procedures are in place to ensure all who visit the campus understand how we will be managing operations with your safety in mind. Requirements related to the wearing of masks will depend upon Jefferson county’s COVID-19 Community Level at the time of the Forum.
Please read the NCTC COVID-19 information page in its entirety. All in-person attendees must complete the NCTC attestation form and carry it with them at all times. Please download, complete, print, and bring it to the Watershed Forum.
All in-person attendees of the Chesapeake Watershed Forum must provide proof of a negative COVID test taken within three days prior to their arrival. Inspire Diagnostics will provide free mail-in PCR tests to all attendees with proof of insurance. When registering, click the Inspire link to receive your test. If you have questions related to testing, please provide those questions at the time of registration.
If you develop symptoms while at the Forum, there is a nurse on site who can conduct a covid test.
All COVID policies are subject to change based on local, state, and federal regulations or CDC recommended best practices.
Through this year’s theme, we intend to showcase the local benefits of the broader Chesapeake Bay watershed restoration movement. We will elevate tools, examples, and ideas on how to bridge the gap between local communities and their watersheds. In particular, we will highlight connections made to nature and the outdoors through recreation, public access, public health, stewardship, environmental education, advocacy, and policy. We also will consider the ways historic inequities and biases have prohibited certain populations, notably low income and communities of color, from accessing and connecting with their local waterways. We look to elevate these issues and demonstrate how to address them in a meaningful and lasting way.
We at the Alliance commit to holding ourselves accountable to this statement and fostering a welcoming, inclusive experience at the Chesapeake Watershed Forum.
