Manchester/Blackwell Neighborhood Cleanup

March 31st, 2023 - April 15th, 2023

For three weekends in a row, the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, Manchester Manifest, and Manchester Alliance will host a litter cleanup event in the Manchester and Blackwell neighborhood of Richmond!

 

Friday, March 31 | 2 PM – 4 PM

Join our Project Clean Stream Kick-Off Event! Meet at the Alliance Office outside the Manchester Pie Factory (612 Hull Street, Richmond, VA 23224). Clean up area will be between Hull Street, Commerce Road, Everett Street, and E 2nd Street—special thanks to Lewis Supply for donating their dumpsters for this event. Parking: The lot at the Manchester Pie Factory is for occupants only, but there is typically substantial street parking, especially on Decatur street. Friday, April 7 | 3 PM – 5 PM

Join Manchester Manifest for First Friday. Meet at the corner of Hull Street and 13th Street. Clean up area will be between 10th and 15th bounded by Bainbridge Avenue and Decatur Street. No registration required.

Saturday, April 15 | 11 AM – 1 PM

Join Manchester Alliance for their monthly clean-up! Meet in front of Legend Brewing Company (321 W 7th St, Richmond, VA 23224). Volunteers can choose to pick up trash in several segments throughout the Manchester and Blackwell neighborhoods. Stay for a raffle afterward and beverages and snacks from Legend Brewing Company. No registration required.

 

Grab Your Passport and Win Additional Prizes

Attend each event, collect stamps, and be entered to win several prizes!

  • Attend two cleanups, and collect two stamps; you’ll be entered to win $50 in gifts cards (2 winners)
  • Attend all three cleanups, and collect three stamps; you’ll be entered to win $100 in gift cards (1 winner)

Passports will be distributed at the cleanup events on Friday, March 31, and Friday, April 7. You must be in attendance on Saturday, April 15, to claim your prize.

 

Event Details

  • What is provided: Gloves, trash bags, trash pickers, water, and snacks will all be provided.
  • What to bring: A reusable water bottle, sturdy walking shoes (closed-toed preferred), sun protection, and spring-cleaning energy!
  • Rain or shine?: The event will be canceled in the case of rain.
  • Family-friendly: Absolutely! Kids are welcome but must have a guardian with them to attend.
