In its inaugural year, the Virginia HBCU/MSI Bay Summit will bring together more than 50 students and faculty from colleges and universities across the Commonwealth.

Key Information

  • The Summit is free and designed for current students and faculty at any college or university in the watershed.
  • Attendees do not need any previous outdoor experience in order to participate.
  • Free transportation will be provided from each participating partner university’s campus (Hampton University, Norfolk State University, Old Dominion University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia State University) but students can also commute.
  • Meals and lodging are provided for the duration of the Summit.

Summit Structure

Please note, this year’s agenda is still being finalized, but it will look something like the following:

Day 1:

  • Welcome to Richmond on the City Hall Observation Deck
  • Community Showcase Panel and discovery time at the Robins Nature Center at Maymont
  • Transition to Roslyn Conference & Retreat Center
  • Bonfire/Optional Pop Up Marketplace

Day 2:

  • Keynote speakers
  • Hear from environmental professionals
  • Participate in a career path reflection
  • Bonfire/Optional Student Art Showcase
