The Bay Protector Pilot Program will develop community ambassadors to promote knowledge-sharing and shoreline-friendly practices among participants who are shoreline property owners in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. These practices will result in activities that foster restored, enhanced, and preserved natural shoreline areas that will ultimately benefit water quality and wildlife.
As a Bay Protector Ambassador you will be a resource and the voice in your community regarding the benefits of healthy shorelines, bay-friendly shoreline practices, and guidance on how to implement these practices. See the form below to sign up.
Participants in the program will be invited to learn more about bay-friendly shoreline practices with local ambassadors and demonstrate their commitment to healthy shorelines to their community. You will also have the opportunity to provide feedback that will shape the future of the Bay Protector Model! The participation commitment is from approximately 8 months in 2025.

Natural and living shorelines provide numerous benefits to the health of the Chesapeake Bay. They prevent harmful erosion, improve water quality by removing pollutants, and offer critical habitat to our native wildlife. These shorelines are also naturally resilient to the effects of climate change, like sea level rise.
Anne Arundel County is home to over 533 miles of shoreline, most of which is privately owned and maintained, making it an ideal location to launch a pilot of the Bay Protector Program.
