Founded in 1948, Delmarva Chicken Association (DCA) represents one of the largest concentrations of chicken growers, integrators, and associated businesses in the country, with over 1,300 chicken farmers on the Delmarva Peninsula.
The Alliance and DCA work together to help members implement vegetative buffers and other conservation practices on the Delmarva. Vegetative buffers may help improve air and water quality, while also reducing farmers’ flocks’ exposure to avian influenza and reducing maintenance costs associated with maintaining turf grass.
“DCA is thrilled to be working with partners like the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and Nanticoke Watershed Alliance to help our members implement even more conservation practices on their farms. For more than 15 years, DCA has focused on voluntarily planting vegetative buffers and with the help of the resources of the NFWF grant and our partners, we’ll be able to do even more for water quality, without burdening growers with additional costs in these tough economic times.”
– Holly Porter, Executive Director, Delmarva Chicken Association
