My name is Alex Engman, and I’m very excited to be joining the Alliance! I’m someone who’s very passionate about the outdoors; I grew up hiking, hunting, and fishing in Minnesota. That passion led me to pursue a degree in Natural Resources Management, which I graduated with from Minnesota State University in 2021. I then moved to Virginia to be with my fiancée, Emma, and began a volunteer service term with the Appalachian Conservation Corps. Through that experience, and other professional experiences since, I have fallen in love with the Blue Ridge Mountains. My fiance and I love getting out on the weekends and finding a new scenic overlook or hiking to a new waterfall. I’ve been searching for a place just like the Alliance to work, where people care as much as I do about conservation and environmental stewardship.

As a Forests Project Associate, I’m excited to help lots of different reforestation efforts take shape. I love working with landowners and project stakeholders, and doing outreach with Virginia’s finest farmers will be very rewarding for me. This role is also very exciting because I get to learn so much about all the other programs this great team is building for the future.
