Laura was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. She graduated from Elon University in North Carolina with a B.A. in Environmental Studies and minors in Spanish and Entrepreneurship. She took part in an undergraduate research fellowship program at Elon where she studied the significant life experiences of adolescent environmentalists. Laura is currently continuing her studies in a Wildlife Management-focused graduate program. Laura is a Master Watershed Steward and a Chesapeake Bay Landscape Professional.

In her role as the Associate Green Infrastructure Program Director, Laura works to advance green infrastructure projects across the watershed through strategic planning, partnership development, and team management. She oversees the Ecological Restoration initiative, working with landowners, contractors, and partners to design and implement wetland creation and restoration, stream restoration, and living shoreline projects throughout the Chesapeake region.

Laura would rather be on the water than anywhere else. She has paddled all 444 miles of the North Branch of the Susquehanna River together with her dad. She has even led kayak ecotours on the Sinepuxent Bay along Assateague Island National Seashore (her favorite place!).

She currently lives on the lower Eastern Shore. In her free time you can find Laura reading, volunteering, baking, and playing with her dog, Heidi.
