The Alliance’s 2014 Taste of the Chesapeake was a tremendous success!  The gala was held on September 18 at the Blue Heron Pavilion at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis, MD.[one_full background_image=”https://www.allianceforthebay.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/osprey-landing-in-nest-with-fish_credit-paul-warren-2007_become-a-part-of-our-work_1.jpg” ] Taste guests were able to give a unique gift towards Alliance programs through our giving tree. Our audience was a sell-out crowd of over 200 guests, including enthusiastic partners, government and business leaders, and supporters from throughout the Bay watershed. The evening’s delights included live Bay-inspired music, a tasting of seasonal local food and unique drink, shucked Chesapeake oysters, and the annual Alliance environmental awards presentation. Our top honor Environmental Leadership Award was presented to Luke Brubaker, who passionately implements best management practices on his PA dairy farm. Our award winners for 2014 Taste of the Chesapeake (from left to right: Alex Beehler, Luke Brubaker, Al Todd, Charlie Conklin, John Tippett and Harriet Tregoning). Our Taste was supported by 50 sponsors. We raised $130,000 and spent less than 10% of that on expenses. We will use the funds raised to continue building the momentum of our community work- to inspire, support and lead the restoration of local rivers and streams throughout the watershed, that flow into the Bay. “Together we can get the job done!”
