The Alliance is pleased to announce the winners of its 2015 Best of the Chesapeake photo contest. Thanks to all who submitted an entry!

We received almost 100 entries of photos of the Bay and its land, rivers, streams and people.  Each image was beautiful in its own special way! All gave voice to the importance of the Alliance’s work and commitment to its mission to heal and protect the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed. Sheryl Bergman’s grand prize submission to the 2015 Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay Photo Contest: ‘Walking around the docks at Chesapeake Beach after a crab boat came in with their haul. Watching this young man cleaning up after a productive trip with six bushels of crabs.’The photo entries did bring unique views of the Chesapeake to life! The Alliance has been a leader in Bay restoration for over 40 years and the collection of photo entries that were entered will help us to give a voice and a face to our important restoration work and to spread the Alliance’s message. Nick Woodall’s second place winning submission to the 2015 Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay Photo Contest: ‘Lightning Over Rockhold Creek’ Nancy Lewis’s third place winning submission to the 2015 Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay Photo Contest: ‘Beautiful Day On The Bay’Each entry was judged on composition and how well it conveyed the beauty and the importance of the Chesapeake Bay watershed and why the Alliance’s work for Bay restoration and preservation is critical. We received submissions that conveyed a broad range of important messages from the unique serenity of the Chesapeake Bay and its rivers and streams to the urgency for restoration and protection. Inge Curtis’ submission to the 2015 Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay Photo Contest receives an honorary mention: ‘Is that all Mom?’The photos also illustrated the goals of the Alliance and, consequently, we have published a 2016 Alliance calendar that contains photos from the contest. If you would like to receive a calendar, become a member today and request a 2016 ALLIANCE CALENDAR by emailing laura@allianceforthebay.org.
