The Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay has been hard at work in 2017, putting more boots on the ground to clean up rivers and streams across the Chesapeake! Now more than ever before, our mission is so important. But, we need your help to keep our work going!  Here are 5 reasons why you should support the Alliance this Giving Tuesday.

1. We’re the Boots On the Ground

We work with communities, homeowners, farmers, forest landowners, and businesses to implement projects that put native trees and plants in the ground, clean up streams, and stop pollution from entering our local waters. We plant conservation gardens, install perveable pavers and rain barrels, train volunteer scientists on how to monitor the health of their neighborhood stream, enhance the health of forests, and create green jobs for youth.

2. We Produce Real Results

In 2017 alone we planted over 20,000 trees through our Chesapeake Forests Program, installed over 330 conservation gardens through our stormwater programs, and engaged 50,000 volunteers that picked up over 2.5 million pounds of trash through our Project Clean Stream. We focus on projects that produce real results that make a real impact for a cleaner and healthier watershed.

3. We Work at the Local Level

At the Alliance, we know that the real work and the real impact starts at the local level — in your neighborhood park, stream, and backyard. That’s why we work with communities to clean up their local waters through stream cleanups, tree plantings, rain garden and rain barrel installations, and more.

4. We’re Are A Trusted Partner

The Alliance has been a trusted nonprofit working to restore the Chesapeake for over 45 years. We work with businesses, communities, and local governments to help them make an impact on the health of the watershed in ways that are best for them.

5. We Are Hopeful

We know that clean water and healthy communities are possible through the power of our partnerships — and our most important partnership is with YOU! We are hopeful that we will see a clean and healthy Chesapeake region, and we are hopeful that we will make a difference!

If YOU want to be a part of the difference we are making, donate to the Alliance this Giving Tuesday!
