In the 1970s, the rivers of the Chesapeake were ailing. In 1971, a group of concerned citizens came together to restore and protect the bay for the wildlife that depends on it, and the humans that recreate, and connect with it. Through the years, our logo has remained relatively consistent, reflecting our commitment to bring together communities, companies, and conservationists to improve the lands and the waters of the Chesapeake Bay. We’ve completed hundreds of projects. We’re proud to continue to steward forest, agriculture, and green infrastructure work throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, DC, and Virginia.

As we celebrate our 50th anniversary, we invite you to join us as we tell 50 stories that feature individuals, projects, ideas, places, and partnerships representing five decades of restored lands and waters of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. Visit www.allianceforthebay.org/50stories to keep up with our stories throughout the year!
