Joel is the New York Agriculture Projects Manager at the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay, where he collaborates with farmers, partner organizations, and private companies to implement practices that improve water quality, promote sustainability, and strengthen agricultural communities. His passion for the intersection of agriculture and environmental stewardship has shaped his career across diverse production systems.
Joel has experience managing large-scale shrimp and baby banana operations under international sustainability certifications. He later worked as a technical advisor for hearts-of-palm production. His work focused on supporting farmers, implementing best management practices, and advancing environmental initiatives. He earned a master’s degree in Animal Science from Cornell University, where he collaborated with the Dairy Environmental Systems team on manure and nutrient management across New York State.
He enjoys Central New York’s trails and outdoor spaces, as well as the challenge of learning winter sports. He also enjoys playing basketball, watching Formula 1, cooking, and exploring nature with his wife, dog, and friends. Joel is excited to bring his experience, energy, and commitment to the Alliance’s mission of collaborative, community-driven conservation.
