Born and raised in North Jersey, Sage’s passion for the environment began from a young age. She grew up hiking, kayaking, and camping throughout the Northeast. This passion stayed with her once she moved to the Chesapeake region to get her degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Maryland, and pursue a career behind the camera.
While in school, she served as president of the UMD National Press Photographers Association chapter and vice president of The Terrapin Trail Club, spending her weekends either covering news events throughout Maryland and D.C., or caving and camping with her friends. It was during this time she also joined the Potomac Speleological Club to dive deeper into her newfound love for sport caving and assisting with geological research.
After graduating, Sage began working as a broadcast news producer in Baltimore to learn the ins and outs of local news, but still held a strong desire to combine her skills in communications with her deeply-held passion for the environment. This is where her role at the Alliance came into play.
As the Multimedia Associate, Sage feels privileged to tell visual stories of the Alliance’s impactful work, and having the opportunity to travel throughout the watershed. She loves any chance to get out in a forest, on a farm or the water, and in the community to document the people, plants, and animals that call the watershed home.. Sage is currently based out of Pasadena, MD, where she lives with her fluffy orange cat, Moose.
