Thank you to everyone who attended the Alliance’s milestone 20th Annual Chesapeake Watershed Forum! Held at the National Conservation Training Center (NCTC), the watershed-wide event brought together 357 attendees and 112 inspiring speakers to empower local action towards clean water.
Thank you to everyone who attended the Alliance’s 19th Annual Chesapeake Watershed Forum, both in person and virtually! The watershed-wide event reached 480 restoration and protection practitioners to inspire and empower local action towards clean water.
With every year that our Chesapeake community works together to restore clean water to our rivers and streams, we learn more.

This month as part of our 50 stories for our 50th Anniversary, we are celebrating our upcoming Annual Watershed Forum while taking a look back at the past 15. The following audio clip is taken from an interview with Charlie Conklin. Charlie is a former Board Member, Watershed Forum planning team member, and long-time supporter, of the Alliance. Since being involved with the Alliance since the 90s, Charlie still names helping plan the Chesapeake Watershed Forum as one of his favorite memories.
The Chesapeake Bay Watershed Forum is a reminder to me, and so many others of why I joined the environmental field, and plan to stay in it for the entirety of my career. There is tough work to be done, but we stand a better chance at success when we come together. In my eyes, the Watershed Forum is the glue of the watershed.
This month as part of our 50 Stories for our 50th we are sharing stories from one of the Alliance’s most beloved annual events, The Chesapeake Watershed Forum. The Forum is a space for like-minded individuals to get together and share successful tools and techniques, offer lessons and learning from on-the-ground work, build capacities of local organizations, foster partnerships, educate on new initiatives and emerging practices, network amount each other, and celebrate our successes. The following blog is by our one and only, Rebecca Wertime. Rebecca has been a part of pulling off this major event since its birth in 2006.
