The 2011 Chesapeake Watershed Forum was an overwhelming success. This year we welcomed over 340 watershed restoration and conservation practitioners who spent the weekend of September 30 through October 2 at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, WV learning, sharing, networking, and inspiring each other towards a healthier Chesapeake Bay Watershed.

This annual gathering, in its 6th year, has grown to become the premier event for local watershed organizations and local governments to reach out to each other and garner renewed energy in fulfilling their collective mission of clean, sustainable waterways.

Highlights from this year include:

  • Updates on regulatory actions form Jeff Corbin, EPA Senior Advisor on Bay issues
  • Presentation by Don Shregardus, DOD top environmental advisor, on restoration activities and opportunities on and around military installations
  • Full day workshop led by nationally renowned social marketing expert, Dr. Doug McKenzie-Mohr
  • Prescribed track on citizen engagement
  • Presentation of the 2011 International Year of the Forest, Forest Champions
  • Inspirational key-note presentation from author, photographer Tim Palmer
  • Rousing poster session highlighting the work of 50 dedicated environmentalists

Thanks go out to all of our sponsors and especially to the 340 citizens who attended the event and who are the true champions of our clean water movement.

The 2012 Forum will be held September 28th-30th, 2012 with pre-forum workshops on September 27th, 2012. Please mark this on your calendar as the Forum’s popularity makes this event fill up fast!
