The 2024 Taste was another great success! Many thanks to our sponsors and friends for raising $116k for our mission to restore the lands and waters of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
One of our favorite parts of the Taste is honoring individuals who have gone above and beyond to help improve the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
We had a great time celebrating the Chesapeake this year with our family, friends, partners, and volunteers across the watershed for the Taste!
The Watershed Champion and Fran Flanigan Awards are special recognition awards for leadership and dedication to cleaner rivers and streams of the Chesapeake Bay. The following awardees have thoughtfully considered how to push the boundaries between science, the environment, and art, and are leaders to be recognized for their exemplary stewardship and profound impacts on the Bay.
The Alliance’s annual Taste celebration is moving upstream in 2022. After two years of virtual events, the Taste will take place in-person at three different venues across the Chesapeake Bay watershed.

It was with great pleasure that the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay recognized Teddi Stark as our 2021 Pennsylvania Watershed Champion. Teddi is a warrior for riparian forest buffers. We recognized that her passion for the reforestation of our watershed and leadership at DCNR has resulted in increased funding for buffers in Pennsylvania and for the Alliance.
It was with great pleasure that the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay recognized Dr. Alan Anderson as our 2021 Maryland Watershed Champion at our “Taste: Celebrate 50 Years on September 23rd. We recognized him for his work through our partnership with Bowie State University, and his commitment to ensuring his students have an opportunity to build skills related to environmental conservation. Dr. Anderson has been incredibly giving of his time to this partnership, and his efforts have created year-round meaningful watershed experiences for students in the classroom and beyond.
